An Award Winning End to the Year for Benromach
The Benromach Distillery Company Ltd is celebrating a successful end to 2016 after winning two coveted awards – the Masters award for its Benromach 35 Years Old single malt whisky at The Spirits Design Masters and Keith Cruickshank was crowned Distillery Manager of the Year at the Icons of Whisky 2017 awards.
The Spirits Masters series has fast become one of the most respected and high profile trade competitions in the industry, attracting vast amounts of entries from leading brands all over the world whilst the Icons of Whisky awards celebrate the industry individuals and producers who work tirelessly to deliver the very best product and experience.
The Spirits Masters judging panel was impressed with the design of the Benromach 35 Years Old, which is an exceptional whisky with real heritage and an original tale or two, having been laid down to mature in the 1980s.
Benromach worked with Edinburgh based design agency, Stuff Creative, to create the unique packaging. The bespoke decanter style bottle protecting the precious whisky is encased within a wooden presentation box, reflecting the various elements which have gone in to making the whisky; the copper stills, the dark, grained wood of the original washbacks, and the white of the limewashed distillery walls.
Benromach Distillery Manager, Keith Cruickshank, said:
“Benromach continues to go from strength to strength and we’re delighted to finish 2016 on a high with a fantastic accolade from The Spirits Masters. I am also extremely honoured to have been awarded Scotch Distillery Manager of the Year from Icons of Whisky – I love my job and to be recognised by the industry is a real privilege. We have some exciting plans for 2017 so here’s hoping we can continue our success next year.”
The flagship single malt, the Benromach 10 Years Old, a classic Speyside single malt whisky with a gorgeous pre-1960s character, continues to be a popular dram with whisky lovers around the world and has been recognised this year with awards from the San Francisco World Spirits Challenge and the Ultimate Spirits Challenge.
In what has been an award-winning year for Benromach, other honours include a win for the Imperial Proof at the San Francisco World Spirits Challenge, the 15 Years Old also impressed at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge and the 35 Years Old scooped a silver medal at the International Spirit Challenge.
