Benromach Distillery has recorded an incredible result at this year’s San Francisco World Spirits Competition, winning three Double Gold medals.
A Double Gold medal is an accolade only given to a whisky if the judging panel unanimously awards it a Gold rating and considers it to be among the finest in the world. Benromach 10 Year Old, 15 Year Old and 21 Year Old were all awarded the rare Double Gold accolade.
Only ever matured in the finest first fill ex-bourbon and ex-sherry oak casks, Benromach’s signature 10 Year Old single malt delivers delicate forest fruits and creamy malt, a touch of smoke and rich, lasting sherry notes.
Benromach’s 15 Year Old single malt whisky gives cracked pepper, charred oak, apples, dark chocolate and forest fruits with rich sherry notes and a touch of smoke.
Keith Cruickshank, Distillery Manager at Benromach, said:
‘This truly is a fantastic achievement for the distillery team. The San Francisco World Spirit Competition is one of the most prestigious in the world and our whiskies were judged alongside almost 3,000 entries from across the globe. Like all of our whiskies, Benromach 10, 15 and 21 Year Old are handmade using the finest natural ingredients and are distinctive Speyside single malts with a subtle smoky character.’
Launched in 2020, the 21 Year Old is the oldest expression Benromach has offered in its core line up since the distillery was re-opened 23 years ago and provides a unique take on the classic Benromach style. It leads with sherry aromas followed by the taste of subtle spice, raspberry and Seville orange, with a soft smoky finish.
