The Benromach Distillery Company Ltd. is toasting success as one of its rarest expressions has wowed judges at another global drinks competition, the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC).

Benromach has added another award to its growing collection after receiving a Gold award at the IWSC for their Benromach 35 Years Old single malt whisky. This single malt alone has already received Master and Gold awards at the San Francisco, Spirit Masters and World Whiskies Awards this year whilst flagship expressions including the Benromach 10 Years Old have also been recognised this year.

Now in its 48th year, the International Wine & Spirit Competition was founded in 1969 and recognises excellence in wines and spirits worldwide. Entries are received from about 90 countries and the competition sets the international benchmark for quality in the crowded world of drinks competitions with dedicated tasting premises, a permanent onsite cellar and over 400 judging experts from across the globe.

Benromach 35 Years Old was launched last year and is one of the rarest expressions released to date. Handcrafted using the finest ingredients, Benromach 35 Years Old is an exceptional whisky with real heritage and an original tale or two, having been laid down to mature in the 1980s before the Urquhart family revived the distillery in 1998.

Benromach Distillery Manager Keith Cruickshank said: "Benromach 35 Years Old truly is one of our rarest expressions, with only a few casks remaining from this time, making it an incredibly special and treasured whisky for Benromach. At Benromach we still work the traditional, time-honoured way, creating our whiskies by hand, using sight, sound, smell and touch, just as they would have done many years ago.

"2017 has been an incredible year and it is very rewarding to see all the skill and quality that goes into every single one of our expressions recognised at such a high level."
